Play Like a Girl is finalized, and available for pre-order. I will be doing my first reading from the official manuscript on February 10 at the KGSA gala. The event is free and open to the public. Please come and bring a friend!

The passage I plan to read is about Asha, an amazing woman and one of the main characters of the book. She is also Muslim living in Kenya with Somali roots. KGSA played a huge role in her current success and a poet, writer, and community organizer.

Trump put a travel ban on seven countries, including Somalia after saying, “It’s going to be only America first.” I’ve heard so many people say that they don’t know how to respond. Do you get active on social media, wear a pussy hat to the march, or focus on your inner circle? It’s tricky to know exactly where and how to assert your power, use your voice and place your bodies to maximize your citizenship. If Trump’s version of nationalism isn’t sitting right with you, come to the KGSA gala to hear more about how KGSA is supporting girls like Asha. Join us. Come celebrate the work of the KGSA Foundation and get a sneak preview of my upcoming book.
